Aside from looking for an apartment complex that is environmentally friendly, what else can you do to help reduce waste and consumption while living in your new apartment?
By using compact florescent lamps, instead of regular light bulbs, you can save money on electricity in your apartment, while helping the environment. For each regular light bulb that you replace with a CFL you could save up to 30 dollars in electricity costs per year. So replacing as many light bulbs in your apartment as possibly could save you hundreds of dollars, and if you really think about it, the electric bill is something you have to consider when you move to a new apartment, in addition to rent. Why wouldn’t everyone want to lower his or her overall costs and help the environment? Plus you might win points with your roommates if you help them save money, too!
Although the cost of these bulbs is a little pricier, they have a lifespan of 8 to 15 times the lifespan of incandescent bulbs. Less replacing means less money spent! By working this into your budget, you might even be able to live in the apartment you’ve always wanted!
