Right off the bat I've got to admit how close this community was to everything. As its name suggests, it is located off of SW 62nd Blvd which is basically right between the University of Florida campus and the Oaks Mall. I got off on the Newberry exit of I-75 to get to the complex and felt totally jealous of all the residents of the District... they live so close to the mall! As I drove through the gate and up to the leasing office I was immediately impressed by how pretty and fun the community looked. There was a lake right at the entrance, the buildings were super colorful, and all of the signs were big, bright and easy to read! As I walked into the leasing office a leasing agent stood up to greet me and we were off to see the model!
Floor Plans at the District on 62nd
One of the nicest things about their floorplans is the fact that you've got OPTIONS! They offer two, three, and four bedrooms floor plans, and there are two different layouts of the two bedroom. Additionally, there is an upgraded version of every single type of floorplan giving you 8 total options to choose from. This is great for friends that are in different prices ranges but want to live at the same complex. Most places only have a four bedroom/ four bath layout to choose from and that's it!
I got to see an upgraded unit on my tour and I fell in love. Let's start in the kitchen... my favorite place! All of the appliance were stainless steel and the counters were upgraded to a gorgeous granite like finish. The cabinets were also upgraded with sparkly new fixtures, and there was some awesome wood style flooring through the kitchen area. The lighting in the model was also updated, as well as the counters and sinks in the bathrooms.
Key Amenities at the District on 62nd
Next we went to check out all of the amenities that they have to offer. The business center allows residents to save money by printing their homework or projects for free here, and not wasting money on buying expensive ink. With 24-hour access to the fitness center and racquetball court, renters are able to work out at any time of day, no matter how crazy their schedule. In addition, I learned that residents have the opportunity to use the tennis and volleyball courts at their leisure. And can you believe that they have TWO pools and a Jacuzzi and two game rooms! The game rooms are complete with Play Station 3 and movie lounges. NICE!
Attractions near the District on 62nd
Of course as I mentioned above, the Oaks Mall is literally in walking distance from the community. Since many students in Gainesville either don't have a car or just don't like driving around town, being able to walk to a few places or take a short ride on a bus is totally awesome AND convenient. At the Oaks Mall you've got Macaroni Grill, Ruby Tuesday's, Red Lobster BJs Restaurant & Brewery, Boston Market, and a handful of fast food joints nearby. The mall has the big department stores such as JcPenneys, Sears, and Macy's.
Just down the street from the mall you'll find Gainesville's only drive-thru Starbucks! How convenient is that on a busy morning... or better yet, on a cold night! In this area you will also find Office Depot, Men's Warehouse, Bed Bath and Beyond, David's Bridal, Sports Authority, TJ Maxx, JoAnn Fabrics and Kmart. I must also mention that Splitz Bowling Alley and Skate Station Funworks are local hot spot for both family and college students alike!
