Chances are yes. In your lease there should be a section on late rent payments. While rent is typically due on the 1st of the month, a grace period is sometimes allowed. The average grace period you will get would be between 3-5 days. After that there are a few ways that the management will charge you. Some communities will charge you a flat rate for late rent after the grace period. If you are a day late or a week late, you will be charge the late fee. Other communities use a tier style late fee system. For example, if you pay your rent a week late you will pay a $25 fee, if its two weeks late you pay $50, and three weeks late will be $100. If there is ever a situation when you know you are going to be late on your rent, speak someone in the leasing office and they may be able to help you out by waiving the late fee.
