I don’t understand what a co-signer is. Can you explain it to me?

Unless you have good credit or are working for some pretty dough, you are going to need a co-signer to lease an apartment. Most students will have a parent or guardian co-sign their lease. When you visit the leasing office of the community you would like to live at, they will have a form that the co-signer will have to complete. They will run a credit check to ensure your co-signer does indeed have good credit. Know that the management may contact this person in the event that rent is late and hasn’t been received after contacting you first.
