It's that time of year, yet again. With 2020 coming to a close many are interested in fulfilling their new year's resolutions for 2021. For those who have added getting in shape to their list, it's important to note that there are many apartments in Gainesville with on-site gyms. If you're looking to get out and utilize all of the city's unique group fitness classes, however, we've put together a few places perfect for getting fit. From top-notch gyms to covid-safe sites, Gainesville has something for everyone.

Rec Sports

For University of Florida students, there are many group fitness classes offered by Rec Sports. The offered courses include yoga, dance, pilates, barre, cardio, and many others. You can take a look at their class schedule and the other classes offered on their website. Currently, their group fitness courses are offered virtually or in person. They are taking safety precautions as well, which makes for two covid-safe options. Conveniently there are many Gainesville apartments for students nearby, so the commute for in-person classes could be just a short walk or drive away.

GHF Women's Center

If Rec Sport's group fitness classes are not your speed, there are other in-person options in the northwest Gainesville area. GHF Women's Center offers dance workouts and pilates classes for Gainsville women. Bring your mat and sweat it out with these fun classes. A variety of group fitness sessions are offered each day, so there's bound to be something that works with a busy college student's schedule. In these crazy times, they take many precautions and even offer virtual classes for those we would prefer to avoid in-person experiences.

Gainesville Dojo

Are you looking for self-defense classes? Gainesville Dojo offers group classes in a variety of martial arts. Located in northwest Gainesville, it's just a few minutes drive from UF's campus. Among the courses offered are boxing, Ju Jitsu, Kung Fu, Tai Chi, and many more. The sessions allow members to get in shape while learning essential self-defense skills. Open since 1985, all classes are taught by knowledgeable instructors, which is fantastic if you're interested in learning about the art form.

Searchlight Yoga

If you're looking specifically for yoga classes, Searchlight Yoga offers classes for all levels. Whether you're a beginner or a pro, Searchlight Yoga has a class for you. A wide variety of yoga group classes are offered at different times and lengths, including "Lunchbreak Classes." Challenge yourself or relax through their "Restorative," "Gentle," or "Yin" classes. It's up to you. Like Rec Sports and GHF Women's Center, Searchlight Yoga also offers both in-person and virtual classes. If you'd prefer an outdoor class, however, be sure to check out their "Friday Evening Yoga on the Lawn at Curia on the Drag."

With a wide array of options at your disposal, we hope there was something on this list that you'd like to try in the new year. From remote classes to women-only classes, martial arts, and yoga, there truly is something for everyone near Gainesville apartments. Get out there and get your sweat on in 2021.
