The Hub on University puts you steps away from both campus and your favorite study spots.
Best Study Spots in Gainesville for UF Students
Sometimes you need a break from your apartment or dorm to really focus. Gainesville has plenty of places where UF students can study, whether you want a coffee shop near campus or a quieter spot off the beaten path. Here are some of the best options depending on how far from campus you want to trek.
Walking Distance from Campus
If you're already on campus or in a student apartment close to UF like Stadium House or Hub on University, you won't have to go far to find a solid study spot.
Pascal's Coffee House – Right behind Wawa, Pascal's has a cozy, library-like atmosphere with good coffee, tea, and pastries. It's part of the Christian Study Center, but you don't have to be religious to enjoy the calm environment.
Raining Berries (inside Hub on University) – Open at 7:30 a.m., Raining Berries is a great option if you want smoothies, açai bowls, sandwiches, and a lot of seating. They even have conference rooms you can book online for working on group projects.
Architecture & Fine Arts Library – One of the most underrated spots on campus. It's quieter and less crowded than Marston or Library West, with loft study desks and a comfortable setting that makes it easier to focus.
Reitz Union – The Reitz isn't the quietest place to study, but it makes up for that with plenty of comfy chairs, open areas, and natural light. The student government area especially has some cozy spots to buckle down and work. The student union is also a great spot to grab lunch on campus with options that rotate every semester or so. It's a good choice if you want to be around other students and don't mind a little background noise.
Malachowsky Hall – UF's new home for data science and AI research is massive and modern, with lots of collaborative spaces where students can spread out. You'll find plenty of room to work on projects here. Plus, there's an Einstein Bros Bagels inside if you need a quick bite or coffee.
HPNP Courtyard – The Health Professions, Nursing, and Pharmacy complex has a central courtyard that's quiet and open, perfect if you want fresh air while you work. It's farther from the hustle and bustle of more trafficked areas like Plaza of the Americas and Turlington and less crowded than the libraries.
Not Walking Distance
If you live off-campus in apartments along Archer, 34th Street, or near Butler Plaza—these spots are worth the bus ride or drive.
CYM Coffee Co. – Inside an old Gainesville home, CYM feels relaxed and welcoming. The patio is perfect on cooler fall days, and their seasonal drink menu is one of the best in town.
Karma Cream – Open late with fair-trade coffee, vegan eats, and one of the best matchas in Gainesville. Their vegan sandwiches, especially the reuben, are a great pick-me-up during a study session. Plus, it's right downtown, not too far from campus.
4th Ave Good Park – This area has a lot to offer from pizza and tacos to an Opus Coffee airstream. There's plenty of outdoor seating and it's pet-friendly if you want to bring your dog while you study.
- Café Voltaire – Near The How Bazar and the farthest downtown option on this list. It has a relaxed atmosphere and a diverse menu with sandwiches, coffee, tea, desserts, and both sweet and savory crepes. It's usually quieter than chain spots during the week but can get busier on weekends.
