Liv+ offers residents a scenic view from their windows.
Spending time outdoors is certainly a great way to get exercise and fresh air near your Gainesville apartment. This of course is due to the fact that walking the trails can be safe and socially distanced as long as you are aware of your surroundings. For those interested in getting out of the house and going outside, there are several amazing parks to check out near apartments in Gainesville. From scenic views to walking trails, Gainesville parks provide residents with outdoor enrichment.
La Chau Trail
Located in Southeast Gainesville near Sorority Row, La Chau Trail is great for spotting various wildlife such as alligators. This park has a large boardwalk over swampy land that acts as a drain. The area will occasionally fill with water and the alligators will congregate there. Because of the large number of alligators at this park, pets are prohibited, for their own safety, which is important to keep in mind if you are looking for a spot to enjoy with your pet. La Chau Trail offers around three miles of hiking but does cost a small fee for each vehicle, cyclist, or pedestrian that enters the park.
San Felisco Hammock Preserve State Park
This gorgeous park is located in Northwest Gainesville and offers visitors trails to bike, walk, or even horseback ride. San Felisco Hammock Preserve has a variety of trails of different lengths. Similar to La Chua Trail, this park charges per vehicle or pedestrian. Although the trails are home to many native species of wildlife, some do allow pets to hike along with you.
Albert "Ray" Massey Park
If you're looking for a park with fewer trails and more amenities, but sure to check out Albert "Ray" Massey Park located in between West Gainesville and Midtown. This park offers a variety of courts, such as a basketball court and tennis courts, as well as a skate park and a pool. Albert "Ray" Massey Park also allows pets, as long as they are leashed. The city of Gainesville provides a more extensive list of what this park and many others offer. This park does not charge for entry.
Boulware Springs Park and Historic Waterworks
Another South Gainesville park is Boulware Springs Park and Historic Waterworks. This park is home to the original water source of Gainesville and provides visitors with history and beautiful sites. Although Boulware Springs Park and Historic Waterworks does not allow swimming, guests can spot turtles on fallen logs and rocks in the spring. The original waterworks surrounding the spring have been restored and are now considered to be a National Historic Site. Just like Albert "Ray" Massey Park, this park does not charge for entry.
There you have it! Gainesville is an amazing city for enjoying the great outdoors and the many things it has to offer. These are just a few of the many gorgeous parks near Gainesville apartments.
