The Hub on University has Raining Berries on its ground floor. Plus it's across the street from Bagels and Noodles

As the Fall semester begins to pick up the pace, you might want to start exploring local eats. Whether you're grabbing a meal before a long day of classes, planning a weekend brunch date, or need to fuel up after a fun night out, these are some of the top breakfast picks near your Gainesville Apartment.

Afternoon

Afternoon is a casual counter-service brunch restaurant with a seasonal menu. Their menu is full of farm-fresh produce and deliciously citrusy cocktails. The sunny interior has shelves lined with ceramics and record collections. Afternoon is a sister establishment to Cry Baby's and Baby J's bar, which you've probably walked past when spending time near your Downtown Gainesville Apartment. The coffee is some of the best in town, using their custom blends from Afternoon Roasting. This spot is trendy, especially on weekends. Given its small size and walk-in-only service, be prepared to experience a wait if you have a large party.

The Flying Biscuit Café

This restaurant in the northwest neighborhood of Gainesville  serves breakfast daily and has been a city stable for over a decade. Unsurprisingly, they're famous for their fluffy flying biscuits, often paired with creamy white cheddar cheese grits. The Flying Biscuit also serves lunch daily, which you can enjoy in our dining room, or on the patio. If you're feeling breakfast in bed, the Flying Biscuit also does take-out and delivery.

Luke's Bagels

If you've ever walked or driven down Main Street in the morning, you've probably seen the crowds of people waiting for these New York-style bagels. You can choose from an assortment of bagels, spreads, and sandwich options. If you need a morning pick-me-up, they also serve hot and iced Opus coffee. The location at Main Street is open Tuesday to Sunday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., but Lukes recently opened a second trailer location that's open daily.

Spurrier's Gridiron Grill

Brunch is now served on Saturdays and Sundays at this part restaurant and part football museum. Opened by Gator great Steven Spurrier, Gridiron Grill has become a weekend staple for UF families visiting Celebration Pointe. Their dining room is massive, which makes this a great option for large parties or club events. This brunch option is buffet-style with a build-your-own omelet cart and Jerri Spurrier's famous cookies for dessert.

Raining Berries

If you're in the mood for a nutrient-dense breakfast on your way to class, Raining Berries is a great option. Located right on W University Ave, this place offers delicious acai bowls loaded with toppings, smoothies, coffees, and a handful of lunch items. The inside also has a great ambiance and plenty of seating for getting some studying done between classes.

Bagels and Noodles

Bagels and Noodles are a staple for UF students the morning after game day. Why wouldn't you want fried rice and Vietnamese coffee to start your Sunday? This is a homey small business just steps away from the UF campus. Treat yourself to classic breakfast staples or a hot bowl of pho broth and tasty Asian entrees.
