Leases are legal contracts, therefore, it is very important you completely read through your lease before you sign it. If you do not already have a copy of your lease, obtain a copy from the leasing office or your landlord. There should be a section of the lease that will tell you the procedure for terminating your lease early and what fees are involved. Your best bet would be to sublease or sublet your apartment, which means you would find someone else to live in the apartment for the remainder of the lease. Many students are moving in and out of town for school so finding someone to sublease your Gainesville apartment should not be a problem. Good luck!
